A records are used to translate domain names into IP address. These IP addresses can be either IPv4 or IPv6 types. Addresses in IPv6 Records are 128bits long while those in IPv$ are 32bits long. e.g. 192.168.1.1 is an IPv4 address while 2001:0db8:0000:0000:0000:ff00:0042:8329 is an example of IPv6 address.
