Here you will learn how to configure your IMAP email account in Outlook 2013. IMAP or (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a standard protocol(language) for accessing email from your email server. IMAP is much preferred email account type. When you configure your email account with an IMAP connection you are actually choosing to access emails directly from your email server.

Steps.
  1. Open Outlook 2013
  2. Go to the File tab.
  3. Click the Add Account button.
  4. Enter your name, the one you want to display in emails.
  5. Enter the email address you want configured.
  6. Enter the password of the email account.
  7. Re-enter the password for conformation.
  8. Select the option at bottom to manually configure mail server settings.
  9. Click the Next button.
  10. See to it that the Internet Email option is selected.
  11. Choose IMAP as the account type.
  12. Enter the incoming mail server address.
  13. Enter the outgoing mail server address.
  14. Enter full email address as the username.
  15. Enter the password.
  16. Click the More Settings button.
  17. Go to the Outgoing Server tab.
  18. Check this box – My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
  19. Go to the Advanced tab.
  20. If required, change server port numbers or click the OK button.
  21. Click the Next button.
  22. Click the Finish button to complete.
